Truck Accidents Increasing Nationwide
Injuries are likely with any car accident, but a crash involving a car and a truck – in this case made worse by two trucks and one car, likely traveling at highway speeds as this occurred on Interstate 295, are even more dangerous. Speed is an important factor in the force of a collision, but the weight of a truck versus a car is a factor by itself.
The trucking industry is only increasing its importance in the American economy, with about 70 percent of all products being transported by truck. Accidents involving a truck have increased about 52 percent since 2009 and 74 percent of all fatal passenger vehicle crashes involve a truck.
As a multi-billion dollar revenue industry, trucking plays a major role in the United States economy. Because trucking itself is a complicated industry with trucks often being leased by corporations from another company, figuring out what party is financially responsible may be a complicated process.
