Aladdin Star Involved in Tesla Accident

Recently, actor Mena Massoud, from the new live action movie “Aladdin,” purchased a Tesla Model 3. The actor filed a lawsuit claiming negligence on the part of Tesla, among other complaints, as he was operating the car safely when the wheel popped out of place. As a result of a problem with the car’s suspension, he crashed into a tree. He stated that the accident occurred along Hollywood Boulevard while he was attempting to change lanes.

After the accident, the actor discovered bulletins that were released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which detailed that some of Tesla’s vehicles may not meet the company’s standards regarding the suspension. Although the NHTSA released this bulletin, given that it received multiple anonymous complaints, and Tesla released numerous technical service bulletins to its mechanics about issues with the suspension, no recall was issued. This prompted the actor to file a lawsuit claiming negligence and breach of warranty.

Tesla’s Response

Tesla responded to the actor’s lawsuit and claimed that the wheel of his car popped out of place after he hit the tree and additionally, since a recall has not been issued regarding the suspension, the problem has therefore been overstated. Tesla has been plagued with a number of accidents occurring with its cars, including a fatal accident involving an Apple employee while the car was on autopilot.

Although self-driving cars may seem intriguing to many buyers, there are many issues that have yet to be worked out regarding the safety of self-driving vehicles. It is recommended that a driver remain aware and present in the driver’s seat while the car is in self-driving mode.
