A person can lose balance and fall at any place and at any time. A person may trip over their untied shoe laces, fall over an exposed root from their tree or trip on an uneven piece of their cement driveway. However, sometimes people lose balance and slip and fall because someone else was negligent. When a person falls and is injured due to another person’s negligence, the injured person may be able to receive financial compensation.
Such a case is alleged to have occurred in 2013, and is now the subject of litigation in federal court. A Philadelphia woman was traveling in Paradise, Nevada where she stayed at a hotel. The hotel that the woman was staying at was owned by Caesars Entertainment Corporation and was named The Quad Resort and Casino. As the woman was walking to her hotel room at The Quad she was allegedly caused to trip and fall due to the deteriorated condition of the hallway carpet. The plaintiff states in the Complaint that Caesars Entertainment Corporation was negligent because they failed to maintain the carpet in such a condition that was safe for customers and that prevented injuries.
The fall that was allegedly caused by the negligence of Caesars Entertainment Corporation resulted in the Philadelphia woman to be seriously injured. She sustained injuries to her head, neck, back, shoulders, arms, legs, torso and extremities, which caused her to incur a large sum of medical expenses. Now a federal judge or a jury will have to decide whether or not Caesars Entertainment Corporation was indeed negligent and whether to award the plaintiff the $75,000 she filed for in the case.
